Golden Gate Bridge - State Belt Railroad Flat Cars with load

This set of cars comes with its specially designed collectors box which includes historic Golden Gate Bridge and Gilbert artwork. The cars each carry 4 steel I-Beams painted in international orange, the exact color of the bridge. One car is numbered, the year the bridge opened, and the other is numbered 2027, the 90th anniversary year of the opening of the bridge. The cars are lettered for the State Belt Railroad, a short line that connected the docks on the East side of the city with the industries of the city. It went from the Southeast edge of the city to the north central area near North Beach and the Presidio which lies at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. Our cars represent the railroad as it was in the 1930's. The cars are perfect behind a Docksider or an 0-6-0 as the railroad operated both tank and 0-6-0 switchers.

These Cars bear unused Gilbert tank car numbers adjacent to the 24320 and 24321 Deep Rock single dome cars made by Gilbert in 1960 and 1959 respectively.
